Innovation and Stuff

Since my college days I have been looking for some of the cool discoveries I have read or studied and have been sorely disappointed by the pace of progress. Do you share this opinion? So what is this blog about? This is an attempt to prove to myself through things that I have read or though my readers comments that some technical progress is being made in our country. So all innovative ideas in any area of science or industry are welcome.

What is truly innovative in our world today

Well we all thought flying cars would be here by the year 2000 and we are still waiting, but something new in this area is being developed. There is a flying car waiting in the wings. It is being developed by Paul Moller in Davis, California. The car is being built around 8 rotary engines like the kind found in the old RX7's of the 70's. But the engines have been modified to be smaller and cleaner plus get better gas mileage than there predecessor. Each engine will weigh only 120 lbs but produce 150 HP at 1300cc. So at eight engines per Skycar(that is what he calls it) it will produce a whopping 1200Hp total. This will allow it to take off vertically like a helicopter as well as cruise horizontally like a plane. And cruise it will at its normal operating speed of 275 mph and a top speed of 375 mph.

It will do all this and get 20 mpg so says Paul Moller. There is still a lot of testing to be done, but the concept is very appealing to me. I can't what to see Skycars fill the air.
